The Specific Ecological Assessment was established by the L.4014/2011 (Government Gazette 209 A '), it follows the EIS in an Appendix and is based primarily on an examination of the "appropriate assessment" of the impact of a project in an area of the Natura 2000 network (Article 6 of Directive 92/43/EEC). It takes into account the conservation objectives of the protected area, focuses on the consequences of the project under licensing in the area, and examines whether the integrity of this region is compromised. For the preparation of the Special Ecological Assessment is required, in specific cases, the collection of field data for the protected elements (birds, bats, habitat types, etc.) of the area of the Natura 2000 network. These data are collected by specialists/researchers (eg ornithologists, experts on issues of habitat types, etc.).
OikoM has undertaken the development of a significant number of Special Ecological Assessments for a wide range of projects envisaged in areas of the Natura 2000 network (SAC / SPA). In the majority of these extensive field work by members/scientists of the company and/or selected partners with whom they have long-term partnerships was implemented.
