The project will define priorities for funding of the national NATURA 2000 Network, pursuant to Article 8 of Directive 92/43/EC and focusing on the achievement of the objectives of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020. The funding of NATURA 2000 network areas will be made both from the European Union through a new multiannual financial plan as well as from national and private capital. The purpose of the project is the definition of priority actions for the effective management of NATURA 2000 sites in Greece and the description of funding potential for this. The outcome of the project will be presented following the structure of the Community Framework for Priority Action (PAF, funds AH).
The project objective is the development of a national “Priority Action Framework” (PAF) to finance the NATURA 2000 sites during the next financial period (2014-2020), which will regard:
i. the determination of objectives and priorities,
ii. the description of the measures/actions that should be financed,
iii. the recognition of the potential economic contribution of the European Commission,
iv. the monitoring and assessment of program implementation.
