The Department of Natural Environment and Biodiversity Management of the Ministry of Energy and the Environment, and OikoM Ltd., as the Contracting Company for the Study for the Natura area group of the Regional Unit of Crete, organized an informative event on:<\/p>\n

“Special Environmental Studies and Management Plans for the Natura 2000 Sites of the Region of Crete<\/strong>“<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

The aim of the event was to inform the wider local community about the objectives and expected results of the Special Environmental Studies and Management Plans for 28 Natura 2000 Special Areas of Conservation and 26 Natura 2000 Special Protection Areas in Crete. The project is part of a larger plan by the Ministry of Energy and the Environment to create a National System of Protected Areas. Its results will be used by all competent authorities responsible for the protected areas (Managing Agencies, Ministry of Energy and the Environment, Regions, Decentralized Administration, etc.). They will also be an important basis for spatial planning, programming and environmental licensing.<\/p>\n
