The results of the Special Environmental Studies and the Management Plans for the protected areas of the Natura 2000 Network of the Regional Units of Rethymnon, Heraklion and Lassithi<\/strong> are put up for public consultation on the website of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, which will last until the end of January 2022<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

These are scientific studies carried out with the aim of:
\na) demonstrate and document the protection measures<\/strong> that should be taken so that the specific areas continue to be important at the European level in the future,
\nb) to formulate necessary conditions and restrictions<\/strong>, in order to ensure that existing land uses and activities can coexist with the conservation of wildlife,
\nc) to formulate the necessary management interventions and those specific projects<\/strong> that will ensure the preservation of biodiversity. OikoM Ltd. \u00a0has been entrusted by the Ministry of Environment and Energy with the preparation of the relevant studies, with collaborating researchers of the Museum of Natural History of Crete, ELKETHE , of the University of Patras, but also specialist scientists from Crete.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As Mr. Evangelos Pappas<\/strong>, Director of OikoM Ltd. points out, “It is important, both for the study group and for the Ministry, to record the different opinions of the local competent bodies and also of the users of the NATURA 2000 areas, so that they be assembled (as far as possible) and rendered in a technical and scientific manner, in order that they may be adopted by management and put into practice”<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]
